1. Joey in the car on the way home after we got him. That used to be my blanket. No more.
2. Little puppy monster used to sleep like this. Freakin’ adorable. Cannot handle.
3. Big puppy monster only likes the sun. He fits right in with our family.
4. Little dog, big stick. (Yes this is a repeat picture. It’s cute. I like it.)
Today is my Joseph’s birthday. (His official name is Joey, but I call him: Joe, Joseph, Hot dog, Pupsicle, Monster, Weasel, and other names.) He is two years old. My mom won’t let me throw a real party for him, which is honestly probably a good thing. He kind of freaks out around other people and most definitely around other dogs. As in, he barks because he thinks he’s big, but then whenever anything gets near him he rolls over and becomes submissive. Weenie. I mean, he does only weigh 4.4 pounds.
In honor of his birthday and my inability to throw a party for him, I will tell you what I would do if I could give him a party. Commence!
These invitations are too cute. I might have to have a dog-themed party just so I can use them.
For the human food, there would be hot dogs, mini corn dogs, and puppy chow. (And a veggie tray because people seem to like that.) I would bake a cake in the shape of a fire hydrant, although I’m pretty sure Joey has never even seen a fire hydrant. Oh well, who are we kidding? This party is for me.
Puppies in attendance would eat regular puppy chow and treats. And doggie cupcakes! (And then Joey would throw it all up. He has a sensitive tummy.)
We joke that he is actually a toddler. He can identify all of his toys — no, seriously, he knows all of their names — and he takes each one out of his toy basket. They end up scattered all over the house. We don’t bother picking them up and putting them back in the basket anymore because it doesn’t last. He also cries when he drops a toy behind the couch. Seriously, he is a child.
I’m pretty sure that toddlers love cake and parties, so I’m confident my dog would love my minimum-effort party. Besides, he loves me unconditionally.
Tonight I’m stopping at the bakery to get him a doggie cupcake, and of course I ordered him a BarkBox.
Happy birthday, Little Monster!
