So Here's the Thing... (aka: There are wedding pictures in here.)

I might quit my blog.

I know. All three of you reading are like, "Well duh, you already did." You're pretty much right. I haven't written since the beginning of March, and that was just a quick recap of my bridal shower. So, in true fashion, here's a quick recap of what's happened in my life since then.

I got married. And got rained on. At the same time.
In turn, I made 140 people get rained on. #noregrets

We went on our honeymoon. It was cold. And it rained. But it was SO. MUCH. FUN. I mean, I saw the Pope. (If you're interested in hearing more about this, I suppose I could recap the honeymoon before I quit the blog. Let me know.)

Rome, Italy

Paris, France

London, England

I chopped off my hair. It was liberating, and the first time I didn't cry doing it -- still totally loving this cut.

I've also done a lot of less-noteworthy stuff, like go to someone else's wedding, tried my first Jamberry manicure (wow, there's a learning curve with that), bought five pairs of shoes, and I obviously went back to work. (Those shoes don't buy themselves.)

I feel as though I must note that the selfies and honeymoon pictures were taken by yours truly, and the totes profesh pics were taken by Ben Hallissy. He didn't pay me to say that, I paid him. He was awesome and if you're in the DC/MD/VA area (or really anywhere because he travels) I would look him up.

How to Surprise a Bride (Or: How to Have a Great Surprise Bridal Shower)

To surprise a bride:

One of my high school besties // Me with my bow bouquet // My maitron of honor and me
1. Lie to her. Make sure everyone around her lies about what they're doing, where they're going, when, and why.

2. Plan a "meeting" at a restaurant under the guise of getting information about potential rehearsal dinner places.

3. When she begins to catch on, throw her off the course again by planning another "meeting." (This meeting will turn out to be fake.)

4. If you're the bride's mother, take her to the set place of the first meeting, and have plants there waiting. (And by plants I mean people.)

5. Act very surprised to see the plants. Hug everybody. Tell the plants that you're there to see the back room of the restaurant so that you can check it out for the rehearsal dinner.

6. Have the bride walk to the back room.

7. Make sure every person the bride has ever known in her entire life is sitting in the back room, and it's especially important that they all yell "SURPRISE!" and clap when she walks in.

8. If the bride cries, you have succeeded.

Okay, so I'm sure you all caught on to what I'm trying to tell you. Basically, my mother, maid of honor, maitron of honor, and fiance all lied to me for months. I knew I was having a bridal shower at some point, and I knew it would be a surprise and that I wasn't allowed to help with anything or lend ideas (I'm a control freak, sorry).

My maid of honor made these awesome cupcakes, and then she and my maitron of honor shaped them into a dress.
On Saturday, I walked into a room full of people (and cupcakes, and food, and presents) and they were all there for me. I was so overwhelmed that I cried. #embarrassing Here's the thing about me: I hate surprises. Talk about overwhelming.

I have the most amazing friends and family and fiance to all keep this secret and spend so much time planning and executing such a well thought out surprise party. I loved every minute of it. But, I'm also really happy to know that my wedding will not be a surprise.

It's the Alpacalypse

Although, I didn't actually have a horrible or long week, so I have no reason to be overly excited that it's Friday. Oh, except that I'm always excited when it's Friday...

Let's jump into the highlights of my week, shall we?

Linking up here // here // here

1. Between THIS DRESS and THESE LLAMAS, I was highly entertained yesterday. And actually am still entertained today. People are either getting defensive about the dress or defensive about how they wish people would stop talking about the dress. Too bad. I think this will never stop being hilarious and confusing and terror-inducing. When Erich told me I was wrong about the color last night I thought about giving him a right hook to the jaw, but you know...I didn't. I held it together. (And I hope I don't have to say this, but this is a joke. I would never hit him. But still.)

In the car on the way home, then on the couch for the rest of the night (until he decided to go sleep on my bed).
2. This is a small highlight, but worth noting. We took Louie to doggy day care on Wednesday because he's been so bored lately. I picked him up at 6:00 and he was totally and completely exhausted. Nothing makes me happier than when my pup gets to play with his friends. Oh, and they gave him a bath. That's really the best part.

3. On Tuesday, Erich had a meet-and-greet type thing close to where we live, so instead of waiting until ridiculous hours of the night for him to come home from work, I actually got to meet him for dinner. We went to O'Connell's Pub in Old Town (because I needed fried food and cider) and it was so much fun! It was nice to have a date night on a Tuesday. PS - Beer batter bangers dipped in curry sauce are my new favorite food.

4. My mom's birthday was on Monday, so my stepdad and I both took the day off of work to hang out and do birthday stuff. (Which pretty much meant sitting around and then eating an awesome dinner.) I had planned this weeks ago, but never said anything, so it was a complete surprise to my mom when I showed up for dinner Sunday night and told her I was staying. And let's be honest, it was nice to have a day off from work.

5. Because this wouldn't be my blog if there wasn't some mention of my upcoming wedding (in less than two months ohmygodhowdidthathappen), I will tell you that invitations have been sent out! I think that maks it real or something...

***Okay, so. Some news. If you haven't already noticed, I finally got around to buying a domain for this here blog. It's now Yay! Also, I realized the links in my header were broken. They are now fixed. I'm also thinking about a new blog design. Any opinions? Yay or nay? Kthanksbye.

Five on Friday

Listicles... Truly lifesavers.

1. I found a gym that I might actually want to join. This is somewhat of a miracle for me. I always think I want to join but then lose interest almost immediately. I've never actually gone through with joining, and I think this might be the one! They have bazillions of group classes (the good ones) and allow you two free sessions with a personal trainer. Yes please! And on that note, I actually worked out multiple days this week. Mission: Skinny Arms, commence!

2. My (I hope final) dress fitting is one week from tomorrow. That means I have to stop eating cheese puffs for dinner. The happy is the fitting. The crappy is saying goodbye to cheese puffs.

3. I had been waiting on a shirt I ordered from American Eagle (because I'm 12) to come in the mail, and it got here the other day. I'm wearing it right now and I never want to take it off. It's warm, it's comfortable, it's the softest ever, it's everything I could want in a shirt. I think it will forever be my "travel" shirt because I can definitely imagine staying comfortable in this on a plane or in a car for many hours.

4. I have nothing planned this weekend and I'm really looking forward to just lounging and relaxing. It's restaurant week (ending Sunday), so maybe we'll get out and try some new places. I love weekends like that. Sometimes you just need a break, you know?

5. Erich's sister is all about this place in DC called Dangerously Delicious Pies. (Sorry if you follow me on instagram and this is a repeat.) She got us a giftcard for Christmas, so on Monday we took a little trip to go try it out. Oh. my. goodness. We each got a slice of a savory pie and a sweet pie (I got sausage, fennel, and tomato, & peanut butter chocolate chess) and I never want to eat anything else. I seriously debated buying a full-size pie to take home to eat all week. Maybe next time.

On another note, I'm really interested in trying out the new BareMinerals Hydrating Gel foundation they just came out with. Has anyone tried it? Thoughts?

And one more thing. Do any of you sell or know someone who sells Young Living Oils? Let me know. I have questions.

oh hey friday // high five for friday // five on friday

Confessions Are a Great Way to Start the Year

Happy New Year everyone!

So... I promise I didn't drop off the face of the earth.

But. I DID change my blog URL! If you're curious, it's now

Quite honestly, I haven't had time to blog. Or maybe it's more accurate to say that I haven't made time to blog. I've had plenty of free time where I could have squeezed it in, but I had forgotten what free time was like, so I soaked it all up with hours of Netflix binging, walks with my dog, and actually cooking dinner. It's been really difficult to get back into a routine since the holidays, but I think I'm finally back to normal.

Let's jump into some confessions.

+ School started again and I hate it. I think I'm going to drop my concentration so that I can be finished in August instead of December. (And save myself $3500.) A master's is a master's, right?

+ I have almost entirely stopped thinking about wedding stuff. But this is good news.

+ Planning and booking a honeymoon is/was much more stressful than I thought it would be. But I'm super excited!

source // source // source
+ I actually really love my job.

+ I'm not sure how I feel about blogging anymore. I still stalk everybody else's blogs, but I don't know if I feel like doing the work anymore.

+ I have a serious addiction to Fabletics. (PS - If you're looking for awesome workout clothes -- and want your first outfit for half off -- check it out here!)

+ I may have accidentally spent a lot of money on shoes last weekend. But they were marked waaaaaay down, so I couldn't not do it. The real confession here is that I bought them in brown, but now I also want them in gray. To splurge or not to splurge?

+ I think I finally found the shoes for my wedding. If you're not familiar with my struggles, read here.

+ Apparently I really like shoes and talking about shoes.

+ Confession posts are a little bit exhausting!
